Ollie and the Great Flour Ghost of Giggle Creek

🔊 Listen to this story

In the cheerful village of Giggle Creek, a little otter named Ollie helped his Aunt Doughnut at her bakery every morning. Ollie loved burying his nose in the big sack of flour just to smell the sweet, powdery smell before baking began.

One morning, a giant tickle crept up his whiskers, and Ollie let out the biggest sneeze the bakery had ever heard — ACHOOO! Flour puffed up in a cloud and landed all over him, from his ears to his tail, until he looked like a fluffy white ghost.

Still sneezing little poofs of flour with every step, Ollie wobbled out the bakery door to find water to rinse off. The chickens shrieked and dove into a haystack, Mrs. Turtle zipped into her shell so fast she spun in a circle, and old Mr. Goat leaped clean over a fence yelling, "GHOST! GHOST IN GIGGLE CREEK!"

Ollie finally hopped into the village pond with a giant SPLOOSH, and the flour washed away in swirly white clouds. When his brown fur popped back into view, everyone blinked in surprise — then burst out laughing, even Mr. Goat, who was still stuck halfway over the fence.

From that day on, Giggle Creek celebrated "Flour Ghost Day" every year, baking little ghost-shaped cookies and giggling about the time Ollie scared the whole village with one enormous sneeze. Ollie didn't mind one bit — he just loved an excuse for extra flour hugs.
